Review:
THE USG LUNGING SYSTEM Being a trainer of horses for 50 years as well as coach of a variety of horses with different conformations and prior training issues, I have tried to develop an understanding of the use and application of all the types of lunging equipment, therefore willing to test other systems. Martina Brunhuber of City Barn suggested I try the USG system, which I have used on my own 17.2h Warm blood mare and another mare with similar attributes to great effect, both of which have experienced lunging with other equipment. The major benefits of this system have been *a greater confidence in the contact (the horse is able to reach into the bridle due to the elastic section from girth to bit, much like the rider’s elastic elbows). Both these mares have had issues from early training with coming behind the bit by shortening the neck, but this system has given them the ability to bounce off the bit through the body. (It may not be advantageous with horses that lean on the bit, however sometimes this occurs because the contact is too rigid). *engagement of the hindquarters – the rear segment as with the Pessoa, encourages the use of the hind legs under the centre of gravity. Note that the horse must be sent sufficiently forward for this to occur. *straightness – with some modifications to the attachment, the horse is encouraged to work from the inside hind to the inside rein and similarly on the outside. Thus the horse strengthens over the back from the exercises chosen by the lunger. Please note that the lunger needs to choose the appropriate attachment of the lunge line for the horse’s stage of training and whether there is a need to influence the flexion or the ½ halt or any other inequalities in the horse’s body.

Excellent results.
I train with Carolyn Earl and she suggested the USG for my Warmblood Arabian mare who was very weak in the back because of an old injury. In a short period of time she is sound and it has improved her trot to an outstanding level and her previously disunited canter is getting me 8s in my dressage tests. After 4 years of struggle, she is now enjoying the work and I am enjoying riding her. Thank you for this wonderful product.

definately reccomended!
I always had trouble getting horses to work correctly whilst on the lunge, because of this I ditched the idea and didn't use it as the training tool it can be.... Until I purchased my USG system! I was a skeptic, but after reading so so many positive reviews and having a young horse in the paddock not being worked due to lack of time; I thought I better bite the bullet and take the plunge. I am certainly glad I did, my pony has really developed consistency in his walk and trot work in a long and low frame whilst still using his back correctly and not running on the forehand. He has opened up through the shoulders and is expressing better movement now with balance and cadence. His under saddle work has improved greatly too. I am very happy with this system and what it can do for time poor people who need to incorporate lunnging into their daily routines or as a quick and easy yet effective warm up before training. Something that will be in my tack box forever! Thanks Martina!

Love it!!!
I use this in my tb who has balance issues and is anxious on the lunge and is very hard to get to settle and work from behind. He is fantastic in this and it has made a huge difference in his balance and strength both on the lunge and under saddle. Postage and service was very fast. I'm so glad I invested in this, it exceeded my expectations.

Easy and great to use
I used to hate lunging my horse, before I got the Usg lunging system I was using a chambon. My horse used to panic in canter and go faster and faster in maybe due to the gravel/rubber surface. (He is fine when i ride him though.) I used the USG system for the first time and he was absolutely amazing. It keeps the horse balance and also gives equal pressure in both sides of his mouth. Lunging is actually fun now!

So simple and effective even I can use it!
Well I have never enjoyed lunging and never felt I got it right, but now I just put the USG on and away we go, my horse is weak in circle work but I can already see him trying and developing strength and stamina and balance. Yesterday we stopped the rushing forward all the time, and I feel like I am not having to do much, he is able to work it out for himself very easily. It is so easy to store too. Great product!

Best $ spent in a long time
I tried for 12 months to build up my boys top line - did all the long and low riding, changes of pace, poles etc etc. But 4 weeks using the USG system transformed him. I did one straight lunge session a week and warmed him up in it 3 times a week before riding. Seeing him everyday I didn't notice the physical changes. But it was the change in his performance that was amazing. He suddenly had the strength to do what I was asking and the " it's too hard Mum" tantys stopped as well.

USG Lunging System for young horse
Winter this year has made it impossible to ride two horses after work and I was concerned about keeping up their fitness levels. I recently purchased the USG Lunging System and have found it to be excellent for horses of varying fitness levels - a very handy tool to add to my training tools.

Allows him to work freely
Although I've never used any of the other lunge systems on the market, I'm really happy with this lunge system. Previously I've just used one outside side rein connected from the bit to the saddle/roller, and the lunge rein passed through the bit and to the saddle/roller on the inside. This has worked but I've always felt it somewhat hinders forward, free movement. This system let my horse work totally free, swing through the back and encouraged some lovely work. He is quite weak in the canter but this provided enough support to help him canter nicely, while being elastic enough that he didn't brace against it. Really happy with how he worked in it, and also found it great to use for 10 minutes before hopping on as an ace warm up.
